Getting started

Is it free to register?+

Yes — registration and browsing are completely free. You only pay if you win an auction.

Why do I need to verify with a Ghana Card?+

Identity verification keeps the platform safe for everyone. It blocks fake accounts, prevents bid manipulation, and gives sellers confidence that buyers will actually pay if they win.

How long does verification take?+

Usually under 24 hours. You'll get an email as soon as your status is updated. If it takes longer than 48 hours, contact support.

Can I have more than one account?+

No. Each person is allowed one verified account, tied to their Ghana Card. Duplicate accounts will be suspended.

Bidding

How does bidding work?+

Each auction has a starting bid, a minimum increment, and an end time. Your bid must be at least the current high bid plus the minimum increment. The highest bid when the timer ends wins.

What is a max bid (proxy bidding)?+

You can set the maximum you're willing to pay. BidGH will bid for you in the smallest increments needed to keep you in the lead — up to your max. Other bidders only see your active bid, not your ceiling.

Why didn't my bid go through?+

The most common reasons: (1) someone bid the same amount or higher just before you, (2) your bid was below the next minimum, or (3) the auction ended while you were typing. Try again with a higher amount.

What is anti-sniping?+

If a bid is placed in the final minutes of an auction, the timer automatically extends. This stops snipers from winning by bidding in the last second and gives everyone a fair chance to respond.

What is a reserve price?+

A hidden minimum that the seller is willing to accept. If the highest bid doesn't meet the reserve, the auction ends without a sale. You'll see 'Reserve not met' on the auction.

Payments & escrow

How do I pay if I win?+

You'll get a payment link to settle via Paystack (mobile money or card). Funds go to a secure escrow account — not directly to the seller.

When does the seller get paid?+

Once you confirm receipt of the item and we close out the auction. This protects you from misdescribed or undelivered items.

How long do I have to pay?+

By default, you have 24 hours after winning to complete payment. If you don't pay in time, the win may be forfeited and offered to the next bidder.

Are there fees?+

Bidders don't pay platform fees on top of the winning bid. Standard Paystack processing fees apply.

Inspection, collection & delivery

Can I inspect an item before bidding?+

For larger items — cars, real estate, furniture — many sellers list an inspection address you can visit. Look for the 'Inspection Location' section on the listing and contact the seller to arrange a viewing.

How do I collect what I've won?+

Once you've paid, you'll get the seller's contact details and the collection address. Some sellers also offer delivery within Ghana for an extra fee.

What if I can't physically collect it?+

Arrange delivery with the seller, or have someone collect on your behalf — just make sure to confirm receipt yourself in your account before funds are released.

Disputes & safety

What if the item isn't as described?+

Open a dispute from your account before confirming receipt. Provide photos and a clear description of the issue. Our team reviews and refunds when warranted.

What if the seller doesn't show up?+

If you can't collect after multiple attempts, open a dispute. We'll contact the seller; if they can't fulfill, you'll be refunded in full.

Is my payment information safe?+

BidGH never stores card details — payments are handled by Paystack, a PCI-DSS certified processor. Mobile money payments go through your provider directly.

I think someone is using fake bids — what do I do?+

Contact support immediately. Because every bidder is Ghana Card verified, shill bidding is rare and we treat it as a serious offence — suspension and reporting to authorities.
